WHAT DOES BAT FILER DO? Bat Filer is a program that let's you do things that can't be easily done with Apple's Finder™ software: manipulate groups of files (possibly in many folders) at once. For example, you can lock a set of files with a single command, or copy files from several different folders to a single destination folder. Bat Filer's operation centers around a list (or, batch) of files. Files are added to the list either: • one at a time from a standard file dialog, • or by folder; adding a folder to the list adds all the files in that folder, including files in folders inside the original folder, etc, • or by searching the currently mounted volumes for files that match criteria that you set. Once you have a list, you can do things to all the files in it, such as: • Set the Type and/or Creator of files. • Rename files. • Lock/Unlock files. • Move files to a folder. • Make copies of files. • Delete the files. • Launch an application, passing files to it. Bat Filer also allows you to perform these operations on any individual file. Some of Bat Filer's other abilities include: • Opening and printing text files. • Peeking at any file, showing the graphic contents of certain types of graphic file, version data on applications, and "raw bytes" of other type files. • Generating and printing Reports on the file list.
